Preston County, WV 911 Addressing System

The Preston County, WV 911 Addressing Ordinance is now in place. The Ordinance provides for uniformly assigning and maintaining street addresses and to provide for easy identificaton of those numbers for various purposes and to promote the health, safety & welfare of the citizens of Preston County. Addresses need to be posted in case of emergency in order for firefighters or ambulance personnel to locate you quickly. Your address needs to be on your house as well as your mailbox. If your home is back from the road or obscured by a tree, post your address at the road side. If your road does not have a sign, post your address in a prominent place so you can be located in an emergency. The numbers should be 3" tall and on a contrasting background. This is not only beneficial to emergency personnel, it also helps delivery personnel find your location. When a house, building or structure is erected, it is the responsibility of the property owner to obtain an address from the 911 Addressing & Mapping Coordinator at 304.329.1855.
